What is Senburi?
Original Mohkatsurin includes this herb. It is a special herb commonly available in Japan and has been traditionally used for alopecia areata. Almost all hair loss treatments in Japan contain Senburi. Waseda believes that Senburi may work by stimulating dermal papillae cells division and by improving blood circulation.

How to Make Senburi?

Add 25g – 50g of Senburi to 200ml of 100% ethanol and let it steep for one month. The final solution should be brownish green in color. Waseda mentions that you can increase the amount of Senburi and there are few side effects. You can also apply Senburi many times a day.

If you are using Senburi alone, Waseda said you should extract in 100% ethanol for one month. You can leave the roots in the jar and keep adding fresh Senburi and ethanol each time you are ready to steep a new batch. This will enhance the potency of each new batch that you are making. However, if you are compounding Senburi with other herbs, eg: when you are making Morehairin, it is ok to follow the boiling method. Make sure you boil Senburi in low heat for an extended period of time.

Senburi(Swertia japonica Makino(Gentianaceae)) belongs to gentian family. It has been used for stomach from old age. Sen means thousand buri(huri) means extract. As thousand repetitions of extraction don't eliminate the bitterness, its name is told to be taken after that.
