Comments like that are what make people NOT take hair loss seriously!! This is not just vanity!!! This is a real problem. Yes, I don't have cancer, I don't have any life threatening problems. I have asthma, I have been treated for anxiety, I have a heart murmur, but I am probably going to live a long time.

DON'T EVER say that hair loss is a "vanity problem." It would be a "vanity problem" if it happened to everybody as they aged. But it only happens to a percentage of mostly men and women. AND it SUCKS for all of us!!

THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS "BETTER" or "WORSE" Problems. There are only "my" problems, and "your" problems.

Everyone's life is important, not just the people who have it "worse than you." Knowing there are people out there that have it worse than me doesn't make me feel better, nor does it make me feel guilty for feeling bad about my problems. This is the only life I get. (I wish I could believe in a higher power, just so I would have someone to blame. As it is, I can only blame genetics. What the hell evolutionary value is there in having no hair on your head?? I wish we had Gattaca style genetic screening, to get rid of this crap)

Yeah, some people deal with it. My guesses are that they:

a.) were ugly to begin with, and it aint' gonna make them any more ugly.

B.) don't care how they look. Lots of people like that. more power to them. (most of them are ugly to begin with, though.) (But remember, this is not any kind of judgement on their character, just their outward appearance, which affects how people percieve us)

C.) Look good with a shaved head. Even then, it is better when it is an option, not a neccessity.

Some people look really good bald. (Billy Zane, Tyson Beckford, Taye Diggs) Some people look pathetic. (Moby, Billy Corgan)

I, unfortunately am in the Moby crowd. I am tall, slender, very pale, and balding. No one has seen me bald, because I am good at covering it with products, and I am only about a Norwood 3, with some thinning in the vertex. I still date very beatiful women, because they have yet to think I am bald. Whenever I "jokingly" bring up hair loss, they say, "what are you worried about, you have a thick head of hair?"

I get my Farrell Hair piece (system, rug, whatever you want to call it) in a few weeks. Hopefully I can deal until we have a real cure, or I get so old I don't care anymore.

Thanks for letting me rant, and DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT HAIRLOSS ISN'T A PROBLEM!!!
