Thanks to news brought to us by AIO in the research forum, reports
have confirmed that Professor Yoshizato's has not given up his cell
therapy research for hair loss.
Professor Yoshizato's cell therapy hair research will be the
foundation of a new venture company started by Institute of
Immunology in Tokyo. But unfortunately, it has been reported that
commercial application of Professor Yoshizato's technology will very
likely not be available for another 8 years.
Here's an excerpt of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun's July 2002 report
that confirmed the news:
"The new company, capitalized at 10 million yen, is wholly
owned by Institute of Immunology. Under the new technology,
developed by Katsutoshi Yoshizato, a professor at the University of
Hiroshima, and others, cells that stimulate hair growth are grafted
onto the head. The researchers succeeded in regenerating downy hair
on mice. They hope to refine the technology to be able to stimulate
the growth of longer, thicker hair. They also plan to carry out
research on the safety of the technology. The venture firm plans to
ally with overseas companies to conduct clinical tests on the
technology in or after 2003, hoping to commercialize the technology
in eight years."To
