Hair Multiplication Test Patients Screening Process At Dr. Gho's Clinic - According To A Prospective Patient in Brussels

<Reprint of email from Dallun to HairSite - April 23, 2002>

Sure I would be delighted to relay the short meeting I had, not with Dr. Gho as I mentioned in the forum but an assistant of his, an Asian gentleman or a Dutch gentleman of Asian descent.

I posted once (only briefly though) on the HairSite website that I had been to Maastricht but to be honest I felt that (back in Jan 2000) it was merely a formality with regard to hair direction and cosmetic concerns like that before HM release date.

Anyhow rang (and spoke to a lady, a receptionist I gather) to say that I was living in Brussels and had heard about Dr Gho etc and could I arrange a meeting/consultation.  I was told that they were accepting test patients/subjects presently and that I would need to be free to come on certain pre-arranged dates (every 8 week I recall) for follow up and observation.  I said that I could make this commitment and traveled to Maastricht to a very dull looking clinic unlike the beauty that most of Maastricht displays.

Met by Dr. Gho's assistant, meeting took 20 to 25 mins, quite straight and forthright in conversation (unlike most consultations you would have or that I have had anyhow in America or the UK when you go to see someone about Hair loss (they fluff what they can do for you...the world is possible). My conclusions at the time as to why so straight talking were (1) the Dutch are very straight talking people and don't mess about with the niceties of
words and also that perhaps they were quite sure of what they had developed.

He had a look at my head and inquired about my scalp reduction and transplants I had and then said that I could be used as a subject but it would be in the temple area in front of where my hairline had receded.  The reason was to be able to observe growth in a "clean area". He said that they had successfully been growing hair for some time now.  I replied that I was hoping for it to be tested somewhere on the crown or ideally on the line scar tissue which I have from the scalp reduction.  He said that they were not willing to try it on the scar tissue or an area in between other hair.

He said that after the trials had been successful I could get a full
procedure. Also mentioned that if I was to go ahead with it I would have to sign a confidentially agreement that if I broke would cost me 10,000 Guliders which is approx $4,000 I believe.

I asked to think about it and expressed my cosmetic concern over the area where they would be wishing to test and hair growing there, took his card and left.

Rang later that week to say thank you but that I had decided against it.

Throughout the meeting I had asked about the procedure but he was not saying an awful lot than what had been mentioned on HairSite postings.

Does that help. I know the place exists I was there, I believe that they are close to "something" as he seemed quite confident at the time and this was 2-3 years ago.

Many thanks for you website and forums. Very informing and supportive.

Stay strong and well,

Regards,
Dallun
