Washenik, currently the director of the dermatopharmacology unit
at New York University School of Medicine, brings an extensive
clinical and research background to Bosley Medical, where he will
implement new research and education activities that will greatly
benefit men and women who suffer from hair loss. Washenik
will officially join Bosley in February of 2002.
"I'm excited and honored to work with the world's most
experienced hair restoration practice," said Dr. Washenik.
"I look forward to combining my academic and research
background with Bosley Medical's experience and know- how."
"As the founder and current medical director of the company,
I'm pleased to welcome Dr. Washenik to Bosley Medical," said
L. Lee Bosley, M.D. "His commitment to quality hair
restoration closely matches mine, and his vast clinical knowledge
will bring new insight into the causes and treatments of hair
loss."
Bosley, who founded the company more than 27 years ago, will
continue as its chief spokesperson, as well as a business and
medical consultant. He will also continue to treat patients.
A pioneer in the surgical hair restoration field, Dr. Bosley
and his colleagues have successfully treated more than 130,000 men
and women with hair loss.
Washenik will succeed Dr. Bosley and will lead the entire
physician staff at Bosley Medical to ensure the delivery of high
quality medical services. He will maintain offices in both
Bosley Medical's Beverly Hills and New York offices, and will
regularly visit each of Bosley's regional surgical offices.
"Dr. Washenik brings an extensive clinical background along
with a wealth of research-oriented expertise in the science of
hair loss and hair loss solutions," said John Ohanesian,
President and CEO of Bosley Medical Institute. "These
attributes will be key factors in continuing our company's
leadership role within the hair restoration community -- and in
designing and pursuing new strategies for growth and
development."
While at NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Washenik was also an
assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology where he
conducted extensive dermatological clinical research studies.
He is a well-known international lecturer and has presented
numerous papers on the effects of hormones on skin and hair
growth. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology and
a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Washenik has
published in many medical journals including Endocrinology,
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Archives of
Dermatology, and The Lancet.
Washenik received his medical and doctorate degrees from the
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and completed his
internship at the St. Joseph Hospital Department of Medicine,
where he received the Outstanding Intern Award. He finished
his residency training at NYU Medical Center, where he also
completed a dermatopharmacology fellowship. In addition, he
has won several research awards from organizations including the
American Medical Association and Mead Johnson.
Bosley Medical Institute manages twelve regional surgical offices,
and thirty-four consultation offices in the United States and
Canada. The company was recently acquired by Aderans Co.,
Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan, the world's leading hair system manufacturer
and distributor. |
