Hi Hape
Looking at what you want to achieve in the photos it is realistic, and should require 2 sessions.
From the photos it looks as if the density in the front and middle is fine and only the sides need to be established. Shock loss should not be an issue. The area that you need transplanting has virtually no pre-existing hair.
We can achieve the highest density immediately.
Everyone's density is slightly different, by 'normal' I mean we can reproduce the density you have in an area that you have not had hairloss yet. You must remember that a lot of men do not want 'normal' density as they are seeking coverage and usually have more extensive hairloss.
The 21 gauge hypodermic needle is routinely used to create 'normal' density, we also use the 23
gauge. Which one we use depends on the circumstances with each follicle and where it is to be placed. Sometimes I much prefer the 23G sometimes the 21G. At the time of placement of each follicle what gauge is best is determined.
The follicles are always removed randomly but there are particular circumstances where some men have thinner temples and a thicker occipital donor. In this case we obviously would not 'thin' out the temples.
And lastly , yes you would be able to 'buzz cut' your hair.
