Dear Dr. Campbell / Dr. Woods:

I am Cheveux from Italy. I don't write English very well but I can understand perfectly.

I never had problem with my hair until 3 months ago. I started to use Finasteride 3 weeks ago and Minoxidil 2% 1 month ago.

Two years ago I had a cosmetic surgery in Brazil with the Prof. Pitanguy (who is considered the father of all plastic surgery in the world) because I wanted to look my best.

I underwent an eyebrow lift procedure which left me TWO INCISIONS or linear scars in the temples (see pictures above). The scars are very small like a pencil but naturally I don't want that the people look them!

The eyebrow lift was done about 2 years ago. I never had any problems with the scars associated with the lift because I had enough hair to camouflage the scars, until now.

Now I have lost some hairs along the temples and the two incisions are starting to become more visible and I am very worried. I can still manage to cover the two incisions for the time being, but I am worried what would happen if my hair loss continues.

Questions:

1) Shall I consider transplanting hair to the TWO linear scars on my temples? Do you think the grafts will take in the two incisions? What are the chances that the grafts will not "take"?

2) Is The Woods Technique suitable for people who have a tendency to develop hypertrofic or keloid scars?

3) I am in Italy. When do you think The Woods Technique will be available in Europe?

Thank you very much for doing this consultation. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheveux.

Dear Cheveux

We need to know how old you are, as you have a “young” hairline.

If you are young, you may need just a few fine vellous nape hairs only to disguise the scars and not a hair transplant at all.

Your hair loss, depending on your age may be a maturation change and not indicative of Male Pattern Baldness, as you seem, from your photos to have quite thick hair.

If you wish to “thicken” the scarred areas shown, one procedure at most of fine nape or temple hair should suffice.

Sincerely,
Drs. Woods & Campbell
