"Here is a
picture from directly above right after the first time I was
able to wash my hair - three days after procedure. You can
barely tell where the work was done. No pain whatsoever.
Sidenote - My girlfriend thinks I will need to eventually fill
in the middle section at the very from of my hair. Yes it
is thin, but I have extremely fine hair, and it has been at that
same density level for probably five years now. Also, not
being able to really clean the front area of my hair very well
left it very greasy and thus not very full." |

A directly forward
shot of my hair after its first wash. Dr. Limmer said that
this "second skin" method was the best for reducing
swelling and redness, but I never thought it would look this
good this fast! |

Hairsite: << How
did it go?
>>>>>>
It really went great! I was quite impressed with the whole
operation. It is true that Dr. Limmer only removes the
donor area and creates the look of the hairline, but he came in
several times during the placing of the grafts to see how
everything was going. He inspected my new hairline area
during the procedure with a type of magnifying glass and made
slight changes to one of my temple areas. I really wanted
to bring it out further, but he really thought they hairline he
drew up for me would work best.
Hairsite<<<Have
you experienced a lot of pain or discomfort?
>>>>
Not really at all. I even brought someone with me to drive
me home, and I ended up driving us both home. I took the
pain medicine he gave me the first night and most of the next
day, but I'm already off it. I probably didn't even need
it yesterday - could have just used some Tylenol. It is
now two full days since my procedure, and the donor area really
doesn't hurt at all. I was even able to fully sleep on my
back all last night with no pain medication. My girlfriend
has been applying the medication to the stitches in the donor
site, and she said that it is so small she really has difficulty
finding it to apply the ointment. The temple area really
doesn't hurt at all. No pain whatsoever. I'm going
to take off the "second skin" Dr, Limmer applied to
that area tonight. He placed a type of ointment on
this "second skin" right after he cleaned up the
temple area, and he told me it needed to stay on for the next
two days. I will send you a picture of this tonight.
Hairsite<<<<Are
you satisfied with the procedure?>>>>
Extremely satisfied. The people working there couldn't
have been better. Dr. Limmer only does 3 patients a day.
One man that was there had come to Dr. Limmer's father 10
earlier. He needed a little touching up and said he would
never even consider going to another doctor and that he has been
extremely satisfied with his first operation over a decade ago.
The other man that was having this done was from the New York
City area. This was his fifth operation!!! He said
his first 3 operations were terrible - all done by doctors who
he was told were some of the best in the New York/New Jersey
area. Dr. Limmer had been recommended to him by a well
known demetolgist in the New York area (he didn't give a name),
and he had his first operation done with Dr. Limmer last year.
He said his results were amazing. He said he never thought
hair transplants could look this good, and that Dr. Limmer was
half the cost of most other doctors he had looked at.
Hairsite<<<<If
you can send us pictures of what your scalp, that would be
great. We can see what the grafts look like immediately after
your surgery. >>>>
I'm taking the "second skin" off tonight, so I'll take
pictures of the area right after that.
Anything else you need to know from me? There has been a
lot of talk about Dr. Limmer not doing any of the real work.
I could write something up about that if you wanted me to.
Hairsite<<<<
Do
you know what kind of ointment he put on your hair and scalp ?
>>>>
I am assuming
it's some form of super strength neosporin. He covered
this plastic "second skin" in the ointment then put it
over the temple areas. It was then held in place with tape
for three days.
Hairsite<<<As
for the second skin, I suspect the purpose is to hold the grafts
in place. Am I correct ? I know some doctors make their
patients wear some kind of helmet for at least one day in order
to keep the grafts in place, perhaps Dr. Limmer decides to use a
"second skin" instead so that the patient does not
need to wear a hat or anything.>>>
Actually, I
think it is more for getting the grafts to heal as quickly as
possible. He told me this method was the quickest way to
relieve redness and swelling. But I'm sure it also helped
keep the grafts in place. I guess it's like killing two
birds with one stone.

<2 week update>
|
Just
thought I would give you a two week update...
I'm feeling great. Honestly, I can't even tell I've had
any type of operation. The back of my head feels perfect,
and my temple area is just as it used to be.
Virtually all of my transplanted hair has fallen out. It
has really made me appreciate the new hairline they gave me.
Just after the operation, I was a little upset that I didn't ask
for an even better hairline, but the hair falling out has really
made me realize how bad my former hairline was.
Everything is great so far. No need to send a picture,
because I now look just like I used to. I'm told you can
barely see the scare on the back of my head if you lift up all
the surrounding hair.
I'll probably send you an updated photo around June or July.
I'm sure hoping this "dormant" phase doesn't last too
long.
