2004 Update
Dutasteride + Hair Transplant |
|
Hi
Hairsite
Here's my Dec 2004 update.
1-
Only 50% of my transplants have kicked in, there
is still a long way to go. The hair is
sprouting, but it needs to cycle in thicker.
2- I've shaved my head TODAY ... to clipping #1
to show the *worst possible scenerio* for the
scar (strip method). It's still quite red. There
is still quite a bit of shockloss, which is
finally growing back in around the scar. At
clipping #2 the scar is difficult to see because
my density is very high on the back. At clipping
#3 it's invisible completely as you can see from
my
POST OP pic.
3- 2 Years on DUT. Still going strong. I quit
MINOX 5 months ago, no problems.
There is still a long way to go. This is only
50% results for the hairline. It will be MAX in
about 5 more months. (9 months total). The scar
will fade away as well.
There
are TWO photos showing the back. Photo 1 is a normal angle,
photo 2 was deliberate to show the scar. This is the lowest clip setting
#1. I usually keep it at #2, so the scar is virtually invisible.

Recent Hair Transplant Work, 2 wks |
|
Hi
Hairsite
I recently had work done on the entire hairline.
I had the entire front 1 inch densely packed to
have a more solid hairline. Here are the
pics, 2 weeks post op. You can see the
short hair where the transplants are growing.
NW2 ... definitely to be NW1 in 8 months

A
disclaimer to all. My hairstyle is different, a
bit longer. Perhaps hair is much healthier. The
hairline has stayed intact, maybe slightly
"thicker" .... no new hair has grown,
however, existing hair is has thickened. Avodart
will halt frontal hairloss, but don't expect
much new hair. Think of it like freezing the
clock, not turning back time. I should also
mention, I've recently moved into a new house,
so the lighting is far far more brighter in the
bathroom. The pictures were taken 3-4 inches
from the light source, so you can see scalp.
Under normal conditions, hair does not look at
transparent, kind of like shot from the back
side. |

Jan
30, 2003
I just completed my 8th week (2months). I am 'extremely'
satisfied with dutasteride at this point. Without a doubt now,
it's clearly visible that the temples are moving downwards. My
left temple seems to be doing much than the right as far as new
1/4th inch black hairs. My right temple is still regrowing hair,
just not as fast as the left. Overall the hair is thicker, and
seems to be growing a touch faster.
If I achieve NW1 status by the 6 month mark, I will return to
.5mg . For those NOT having visible regrowth, and there seems to
quite a few, I would suggest upping the dose (if you can afford
it) .. give it 6 months.
In summary, without a doubt DUTA is helping. It's not even
psychological or placebo effects anymore I can without a doubt
say it has helped my temples move down about 2-3 mm and my hair
significantly thicker in general.
2 months down, 4 to go !
