Hello! I haven't posted to this forum for a long time because frankly I had lost hope in any regrowth. I've been experiencing a real insidious, long lasting form of chronic telogen effluvium for several years (TE = shedding of resting hairs) and doctors were at a complete loss over the cause of my hair loss. I'm a 33 year old female with 85 year old uncles with hair that could rival Bill Clinton. They all have thick, luscious hair so what the hell happened to me? Well, part of the puzzle was discovered by a female nurse (note: not a male dermatologist) who tested my iron ferritin levels; my hair loss has been ongoing for over 10 years to the point that I'm wearing a full wig at 33 (and let me say that its obvious to me & acquitances,but I don't give a f**** shit at this point); anyhow, I've been taking iron supplements once to twice a day for the last 5 months and everyone has noticed a big difference; my hairloss has subsided bigtime and I have some significant regrowth; unfortunately, I have a ways to go before I can rip this stupid wig off my head & reclaim my life; at this point, I'll be happy with partial regrowth considering I've been losing my hair for several years; and yes, I'm ripping pissed at male dermatologists for not testing my iron ferritin levels, but instead opting for the easy way out and diagnosing me with "female pattern baldness"; how perplexing in a family with 85 year old men with enough hair to supply transplants to 5 thirty-something year old men.
Don't lose hope! My hair is slowly growing back, but there is a long journey from the follicly-challenged word to the normal world. I don't mean to be factitious. I'm just plain bitter!

Hi, I just am wondering about DHEA? I thought it was one you don't want too much of but...I'm interested in your reasons and sources on this and if you got tested and what idea level you've had recommended to you...etc. thank you
