My hair's still falling out also. Starting in December 2000, I started decreasing the Aldactone I was taking - from 200 mg a day down to nothing as of a week or two ago. So far, so change whatsoever - no big increase OR decrease. Go figure. The only reason I went off it was on Dr. Vliet's suggestion since my androgens have been VERY low and my sodium was below normal. Sodium's back to normal and I don't have the urge to eat salty things anymore.
Haven't really noticed any change in my hair since starting the Niferex either. Maybe that Estratest started a ball rolling that may never stop????? Who knows? Although I'd love to have my hair back, I'm getting a little more used to the idea that I don't have to have my hair back to be happy.
You're not taking any hormones are you? The Promensil has soy in it,yes? If you were taking any estrogen/progesterone containing meds, the soy could compete with them and keep them from being as effective as possible.
I think it's good to take your vitamin C with your iron - I read that it helps the iron be absorbed better. It sounds like you don't know now if your iron is high or low. How confusing those tests were.
That must have been a wonderful feeling to have your hair stop falling out. How long did it last?
It's good to hear from you too. I wish I had good news about my hair also - but life goes on, huh? Take care and write when you can.

Dr. Orofino is a specialist in internal medicine and alternative medicine. I just spoke to my coworker who referred him to me and we both agree he is pretty amazing. He has helped her, her husband and 2 daughters. She tells me he is still affiliated with Harvard in some way and he does a lot to keep on top of everything. I would highly recommend that, if you were ever in NY again, that you see him. I've been real busy lately and have not been able to do any reading. I usually go on yahoo and type in either "low ferritin levels and hair loss" or "DHEA", etc. That's probably what alot of people do. When I first started taking the DHEA, I was afraid it would make my hair fall out more. But my doctor told me either too much or too little DHEA can make the hair fall out. I read it somewhere also. I went on to yahoo and typed DHEA. It was on one of those web pages (there are many). My shedding is still much less than it had been. I just had a real heavy (and painful) period and I thought it may start up real bad again, but it didn't. That's a good sign. I hope you're doing well. There's just so much to know and learn and not enough experts out there to help. Please keep in touch. Jackie
