Hi Megan,
I haven't talked to you in awhile. It's good to see your name but I'm so sorry to hear things aren't going well with your hair. Same here. My ferritin was 34 in February so I started taking iron. At first I took Slow FE but when that was too constipating, Dr. Vliet suggested I try a brand called Niferex. It has 50 mg of elemental iron and she said to take one a day. So far, so good.
I'm going to ask her at my next appointment (April 23rd) when is soon enough to get the ferritin tested. I realize it's supposed to take awhile to build up the ferritin. I will ask her if we need to stop taking iron supplements so many days before the blood test and will let you know what she thinks. What does your husband say about that? (He's a doctor, yes or am I writng to a different Megan. Sorry if I am).
You mentioned something about TIBC. What does that stand for and what does it signify?
You also mentioned that you don't know how your husband puts up with you. I'll just bet he does it because he loves you so much. You think?
